Задачи урока:

• Образовательные: обобщение лексического материала по теме, обучение аудированию, обучение устной речи.
• Развивающие: развитие коммуникативных навыков по теме, развитие творческих способностей учащихся, развитие памяти, внимания и мышления, развитие умения обобщать и делать выводы, повышение мотивации к изучению английского языка.
• Воспитательные: привитие навыка работы в малых и больших группах, воспитание уважения к культуре других стран.
Форма урока: урок-экскурсия.

PROCEDURE
1. Warming up.
T: Good morning, children! How are you? S.: We are fine, thanks.
(All together) – Mind the clock and keep the rule: always come in time to school.
I try to do my best each day, in my work and in my play and if I always do my best-I need not care about the rest.
2. T: Please, be very attentive.

There are different pictures on the blackboard. Look and say how would you formulate the theme of the lesson?

So, what are we going to talk about?
Today we are going to have a talk about London, about London `s historical and modern sites, to learn information about life of people abroad. We`ll practice in reading, we will learn new words, puzzle our brains.
This is the plan of our lesson.

4. As you know London is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It has a lot of interesting historical and modern places to visit. These words we`ll meet at the lesson: Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament, Trafalgаr Square, Westminster Abbey, The Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Tate Gallery, Madam Tussaud`s Museum, St. Paul`s Cathedral, Hyde Park, St.James’s Park, Regent’s Park, Kensington Gardens.(слова на карточках )
5. Now let’s act out the dialogue between a tourist and his British friend.
– Ann, how do you like London?
-Oh, it`s very beautiful. I have already visited some famous places.
– What places have you visited?
- I`ve already visited Westminster and saw Big Ben.
– And have you visited the Tower of London?
- Yes, yesterday we went on the excursion to the Tower.
– The Tower is one of the most interesting places in London. And have you visited any museums?
- Not yet. Could you tell me something about them?
- Oh, yes. It`s the famous waxworks museum. You can meet there great characters of history and art and even the Royal family.
– Oh, it`s great. I think I`ll go there tomorrow. Let’s go together?

6. Let’s play a little. The game “Boasters”.
T.: Аkku, Dilyara and Akniet go to the blackboard! Аkku will repeat an adjective. Dilyara will use comparative degree of the adjective. Akniet will use the superlative degree of the adjective.

7. Beforehand you were divided into several groups which had the task to prepare the presentation of one of the topics. Our tour is unusual. You, tourists, will take an active part in our tour. You can see these places, listen to the information about them, you can do the tasks and you can also be guides. Please, begin.
P1: Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! My name is... I am your guide. Today we are going to listen to some information about London.
P2: Let’s begin from the Tower of London.

1. London.
London is the capital of Great Britain, its political, economic and commercial centre. It is one of the oldest and most interesting cities in the world. Traditionally it’s divided into several parts: the City, Westminster, the West End and the East End. The heart of London is the City, It is financial and business centre. Westminster is the historic, the governmental part of London. The West End is the richest and most beautiful part of London. It is the symbol of wealth and luxury. Trafalgar Square is the geographical centre of London. The East End was the poorest district of London. Today, the district is changing very fast. There are huge offices and new blocks of flats in the East End.
2. The Tower of London.
The Tower of London has been many things: a palace, a fortress, a prison, a place of execution, a Zoo. Today it is best known as a historical museum. About one hundred fifty people and six ravens live here. The Tower was a royal palace long ago. Then it became a prison. Kings, queens, and noblemen were locked up here. There are at least six ravens at the tower. There is a story that they bring good luck to Britain, if they stay at the Tower. That’s why they get ’’paid” meat and biscuits every day.
P.3: All tourists always want to visit Westminster Abbey.
3. Westminster Abbey.
It is a palace where all British Kings and Queens are buried. It was founded by Edward the Confessor in 1050. For a long time it was used as a monastery. One of the greatest treasures of Abbey is the oaken Coronation Chair made in 1300.

P.4: The next places we are going to visit are the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.
4. The Houses of Parliament.
The Houses of Parliament are situated on the north bank of the Thames. It is a great example of Gothic architecture. The British Parliament consists of two chambers: The House of Commons and the House of Lords. The famous clock Big Ben stands near the Houses of Parliament. Big Ben is really a bell which weights 13,720 kilograms. You can hear it every hour.
P.5: London is also rich in museums. And the most famous are probably are Madam Tussaud’s and the British Museum. 6. Madam Tussaud’s. Madam Tussaud s is the most popular wax museum in the world. There are wax models of famous people such as Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Marilyn Monro, Charlie Chaplin, the British Royal family and many others in this museum. It is situated in Marylebone Rode, not far from the Street which is famous as the home of the first great detective Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. There is usually a long queue in front of the museum.
5. The British Museum. The British Museum is the most important historical museum in Great Britain. It was built in 1852.Itis famous all over the world by the national museum of archaeology and ethnography and the national library which has a lot of valuable books and manuscripts. There are also some halls devoted to maps, coins medals and drawings.
P.6: Let us go on. I will tell you about London Eye.
7. London Eye. The observation wheel erected on the bank of the river Thames is more than double the height of Big Ben! It is called the London Eye. The Wheel does not stop for passengers – instead they just walk into the large egg – shaped glass capsules while it is in motion .The trip takes 30 minutes.

Another Day in the Life of the Queen.
Queen Elizabeth wakes up at 7 o’clock, has a cup of tea and reads the Times. Then she has a bath and gets dressed. At 8 o’clock she listens to BBC news and has breakfast with Prince Philip. After breakfast she reads personal letters and has an important business consultation with private Secretary and then works at government documents. At 1 o’clock she has a quick lunch in her private apartment in Buckingham Palace and at 2 o’clock leaves the Palace to open a new hospital. There she makes speeches, shakes hands and has a cup of tea. At 4.45 she is back at the Palace and works in her office. At 5.30 she receives foreign visitors and then has the final meeting with her Private Secretary. In the evening she goes to St. James Palace where she has a reception party and talks with 70 people. Then she goes back to the Palace and at 8.30 has dinner with Philip and a group of some businessmen. At 10 o’clock she watches television news and then read some of official papers and telephones some members of the Royal Family – just to see if all is well. At about 11 o’clock she goes to bed.
